Regen Projects: Screening

Regen Projects will restage Moving Images, a screening of dances for film and video selected by the painter Silke Otto-Knapp.

A program of the same name was presented on March 6, 2020, as part of the exhibition 'Silke Otto-Knapp, In the waiting room' at The Renaissance Society at The University of Chicago. This special screening offers an illuminating pendant to the gallery’s ongoing exhibition dedicated to Silke Otto-Knapp. Deeply invested in modern and contemporary dance, performance, and film, Otto-Knapp engaged these forebears as both inspirational archive and creative analogy for the theatrically of her own drawings and paintings.

This screening offers visitors an opportunity to experience the fascination these performative precedents held for Otto-Knapp alongside the drawings and paintings they animated and informed. The films will screen from 10 to 6, Thursday, July 27th to Saturday, July 29th and be accompanied by a special after-hours rooftop reception at the gallery on Friday, July 28th from 6 to 8pm.
